THE STORY BEHIND THE GAMES

About BandGames

A practice space made for developing band musicians.

BandGames was created with a simple goal: to give band students an easy-to-use place to practice the skills that help them become stronger, more confident musicians.

I originally built the site as a resource for my own band students. I wanted something they could quickly open on a Chromebook, phone, or computer and use to work on real band skills—things like note reading, rhythm, key signatures, transposition, fingerings, ear training, and music theory—without having to dig through tools designed for completely different kinds of musicians.

Everything on BandGames is built specifically with developing band musicians in mind. The games are meant to make practice more engaging while still reinforcing the same concepts students use every day in rehearsal.

What started as a collection of tools for my own classroom has grown into something I hope can be useful to band students and teachers anywhere. Whether you're learning your first notes or sharpening more advanced skills, BandGames is meant to be a simple, approachable place to learn, practice, and improve.

Practical ways to use BandGames with developing musicians.

Using BandGames in Class

BandGames can be used as a quick supplemental tool for reinforcing skills students are already learning in rehearsal. It is designed to work well on Chromebooks, phones, tablets, and computers without requiring student accounts.

Suggested Uses

Bell Ringers / Warmups

Project a game for the class or give students a few minutes of individual practice at the beginning of rehearsal.

AMI / Remote Learning

Direct students to specific games that reinforce concepts currently being studied.

Individual Practice

Students can work independently on note reading, rhythm, key signatures, fingerings, transposition, ear training, and other skills.

Sectionals

Use instrument-specific games during sectional rotations or small-group instruction.

Targeted Intervention

Assign a specific game to students who need extra reinforcement with a particular skill.

Enrichment

Give more advanced students independent activities while other students receive additional instruction.

Speed Run Challenges

Use Speed Run modes for short classroom challenges or friendly skill checks.

No student accounts required

BandGames does not require student accounts and does not intentionally collect student names or personal student information through normal game usage. Game progress or high scores may be saved locally in the visitor’s browser.

Feedback submissions

Please do not submit student names, sensitive information, or other private student information through the feedback form.

Basic site information

The site may collect basic anonymous or aggregated technical and usage information, such as page visits, browser or device information, and general traffic statistics.

Third-party services

Third-party services used by BandGames, including the embedded Google Form, may process information under their own privacy policies.

Future changes

If analytics, advertising, accounts, or other data-collection features are added in the future, this page may be updated to explain those changes.
